The Purpose
Illinois farmers contributed over 1.7 million pounds of food and 1,800 volunteer hours to food pantries last year through their local Farm Bureaus. In 2008, our own Kane County Farm Bureau Young Farmers were recognized by the Illinois Farm Bureau with a “Harvest for ALL” Campaign Contributor Award for their hunger relief efforts.
But we think more can be done.

Every year KCFB helps stock the
shelves of local food pantries during
the Food Check-Out Challenge.

"Local Farmers Fighting Local
Hunger" will help feed your
neighbors, here in Kane County.
The Need
- 39,000+ Kane County residents live below the poverty line.
- 1 in every 11 people in Illinois do not have regular access to enough safe, nutritious food for an active and healthy life.
- The Northern Illinois Food Bank, based in St. Charles, distributed more that 22 million pounds of food in 2007.
- In its 13 county service agency, it helps feed
40,000 people each week.
The Project
The Harvest for ALL “local farmers…fighting local hunger” program was developed to encourage local farmers, members and consumers to support hunger relief efforts.  Through Harvest for ALL, local farmers are being asked to donate the harvest or a set number of bushels from an acre of land to benefit a local food pantry, but everyone can play a part...

Farmers donate a portion of their
harvest, by the acre or the bushel.
