Young Farmers tour N.C. farms
Kane County Farm Bureau members David Marshall, Heather Pierson, and Dale Pitstick participated in the IFB Young Leaders Ag Industry Tour to North Carolina in July. Tour stops in The Tar Heel State included Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Biltmore Estate, Reinhardt Farm and RJ Reynolds. Read more about their travels here, on the KCFB Facebook page, and in the September issue of the Kane County Farmer.

Local food abounds in Kane County
Summer may be winding down, but Kane County growers, like the Srails at Windy Acres Farm in Geneva, still have a variety of fresh-from-the-farm products to offer. Click here to read about this local farm with a family tradition of providing fresh, local food. KCFB’s Bounty of Kane directory lists farms & farmer’s markets that sell direct to consumers.

Garden not all it could be? Get a soil test
Whether your lawn is lagging or your garden isn't growing, a soil test could be what you need. Kane County Farm Bureau has three different tests available. Results are sent right to your door within 2 weeks. Maybe you didn't have the best results this year, but 2015 could be your year with advice from the pros! Click here for a form & soil test instructions. Drop off samples M-F 8:30-5pm at KCFB.

Join farmers helping local food pantries
By pledging a portion of their harvest proceeds, local farmers are helping restock the shelves of local food pantries through Kane County Farm Bureau’s Harvest for ALL campaign.  The program was developed to feed the hungry and remind everyone where food comes from - farms!
